And now for the long version:
Avela Gronemeyer possesses 20 years’ experience spanning strategy, technology, digital and innovation projects as well as consulting practice and department leadership. She has had the opportunity to successfully lead innovation driven consulting practices as well as build delivery teams and oversee the delivery of several projects end-to-end including post-project evaluation. Commercial acumen, solution centricity, people leadership - including empowering people to perform and actively shape their careers - have been core tenets of how she has approached roles that she has had the opportunity to serve in.
Avela is excited about leading both inter-organizational and cross organisational, interdisciplinary collaborations to shape and implement IT & digital transformation strategies and roadmaps as well as bring these to life through digital products and new technology innovation. Her experience combines corporate experience and the start-up world creating a golden thread of diverse inputs that have nurtured her broad perspective and enable her innovative spirit.
As part of driving innovation infused strategy and transformation projects, Avela has experience engaging stakeholders for input, buy-in and execution through-out the organisation including the C-Suite and Boards (private sector) as well as Ministerial and Director General levels (public sector). As lead for Consulting and New Technology Innovation while at Accenture, she grew high value consulting within the Health & Public Service Client Group into a considerable practice. As Deputy General Manager at Discovery Health, Avela led the development process for the 2023 business strategy of the largest health insurance company in Africa. She further took responsibility for the Office of the CEO including the governance and reporting processes focused on the executive committee, board and annual performance reporting. Most recently, Avela has immersed herself in, and has enjoyed, doing research on and speaking about Privacy and Artificial Intelligence.
Increasingly, Avela is excited about the role that sound research can play in enabling sustainable corporate decision-making, innovation and strategy development. Her interests and research focus on digital transformation as a factor for business success, the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the socially acceptable implementation of new technologies.
Avela believes that innovation and technology empower us with the potential to change the world we work and live in for the better, and that kind, ethical leadership that builds is what will ensure that said change is for good. People, technology, digital transformation, innovation and writing are her energisers.
