Avela Gronemeyer is the CEO and Founder of Inno Yolo. She is an entrepreneur, a former Managing Director at Accenture and a 2023 Women-In-Tech Africa Lifetime Achievement Award nominee. In 2024 she was named among the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Tech in Africa by African Women in Tech. Her areas of specialisation include digital transformation, technology innovation, data and AI ethics (with a special focus on AI privacy).
She possesses extensive experience spanning strategy, technology, digital and innovation projects. She has had the opportunity to deliver a number of projects end-to-end including post-project evaluation. Avela is excited about shaping, building teams for, and overseeing, the implementantion of digital transformation strategies and roadmaps. She has experience digitally transforming customer experiences, business operations and business models. As part of driving transformation and innovation projects, Avela has experience engaging stakeholders for input and buy-in throughout the organisation including the C-Suite and Boards in the private sector as well as Ministerial and Director-General levels in the public sector. Avela enjoys doing AI research and educating about data and AI opportunities, risks, potential harms and mitigation measures. In this respect she has delivered thought leadership at seminars, through presentations and by shaping and facilitating workshops.
Avela is the co-convener of the Opportunity, Responsibility and Accountability in Data and AI Conference (ORADA Conference 2024). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Information Systems from Rhodes University, in South Africa and is an, awaited, Master’s thesis result away from holding a Master of Science degree in Business Informatics from the University of Hagen in Germany.
